The Dream SMP server added Quackity in August 2020 after TommyInnit suggested adding him. After gaining a mutual friend, GeorgeNotFound, Quackity, and Dream began talking more often. Dream considered Quackity to be the funniest person he knew.

In the wake of the Dream SMP ending, Dream and Quackity both announced new Minecraft SMPs, the United SMP and the Quackity SMP, respectively. The two servers were multilingual, and their translation mods were announced around the same time, causing some drama between fans who claimed one content creator copied the other. As for the "drama," Dream explained that he and Quackity accidentally worked on the same project, but kept it private. Dream added that he is in love with Quackity and he does not have any hard feelings toward him.[1] He also added that he hated people minimizing Quackity's accomplishments in gaming. People were able to build bridges because of Quackity, Dream said.

A much longer thread was later posted by Dream about the topic. Despite working separately on their projects, he and Quackity had the same general idea, to set up a Minecraft server for play. In Dream's words, he started developing a translation mod after he came up with the idea of a worldwide Minecraft server. In response to Quackity's announcement of the QSMP, Dream reached out to support Quackity and let him know that he was also working on a server to bring people together. The QSMP and USMP had not been mentioned on Quackity's server, so Dream was led to believe that he could share the translation mod with Quackity. Dream assumed Quackity was overwhelmed and busy because he didn't reply to him. As a result of contacting other members of the QSMP, Dream got reassurance that the QSMP was different from the USMP. Quality was to be the owner of the Spanish community on the USMP as Dream worked on the USMP. A video of Dream's translation mod was uploaded as an April Fool's joke. The dream was slightly disappointed when Quackity announced a translation mod for his server shortly afterward. Quackity and Dream were both passionate about their projects, so Dream was eager to exchange ideas with him.

Quackity laughed at Dream's similar ideas and reached out to him again with support. The two bumped into each other, but Quackity did not reply to Dream's messages. They had begun brewing hatred and fighting within their fan bases, and Dream suggested talking things out to avoid fighting. A few days later, Dream speculated that Quackity was frustrated with Dream because he thought Dream stole his idea. From mutual friends of the two, Dream learned that Quackity as well wasn't responding. Dream expressed his love to Quackity about a week later and said they shouldn't hurt their friendship because of a Minecraft SMP. Quackity never intended for Dream to compete with him or copy him.

The topic was discussed in even more depth by Dream in the thread.

Dream's emotes were removed and his name was censored in Quackity's Twitch chat after the situation with Dream.

As a result of their dynamic and limited interaction, Loud Duo was initially a supported duo. However, a few people noted how they did not interact much and seemed awkward together. The two remained popular, and their AO3 works currently number 630+.

People took Quackity's side in the Loud Duo "drama" when it became a popular topic. Quackity had publicly talked about the QSMP when Dream said he kept the project private, and they believed Dream was being immature for posting so much about the subject publicly. In fact, Quackity himself liked a tweet about how Quackity had been talking about the QSMP since January 2023. Others agreed with Dream that Dream wouldn't have to speak publicly if Quackity had responded. Dream and Quackity should talk out this issue, according to some people who didn't take sides. Some people who did not take sides cracked jokes to lighten the situation, while others thought it was stupid to argue over Minecraft servers.
