With the help of a local wireless connection, four-player battles are possible with additional characters and an original storyline. There is no plot in this version of the animated television series. Ninja Heroes Ultimate features more than four dozen characters, some of whom must be unlocked. Aside from the head-to-head multiplayer, there are several plotless adventures in "Master's Road"; one focuses on the television show story arc, another follows Team Hebi, and yet another follows an original narrative.
