Chelnov: Atomic Runner is a video game! With a little tweaking, it can still be played on Genesis. As well as Sharp X68000, it's an action game set in an arcade, sci-fi/futuristic and platform theme.
In 1992, Data East released Chelnov: Atomic Runner, a platform game. A Soviet Union superhero with super speed and radiation absorption, Chelnov, is controlled by the player. As Chelnov, you are responsible for preventing a nuclear meltdown in 1986. Sega Genesis and Sega Master System versions of the game were released.
The gameplay begins with the player running to the right, avoiding obstacles and enemies. In the first level, the player must reach the end of the level before time runs out in a Soviet city. A forest is the setting for the second level, in which the player must once again finish the level before the time runs out. A nuclear reactor must be destroyed before it explodes in the third level, which is set in a nuclear plant. It's the last level of the game, which takes place inside a space station, and the player must destroy the core of the station before it explodes in order to reach the end.
Throughout the game, there are four levels, each with a unique setting and challenge. As you progress, you will see a cityscape on the first level, a forest on the second level, a nuclear plant on the third level, and a space station on the fourth and final level. Players are required to reach the end of every level in a certain amount of time. Obstacles and enemies must be avoided in the cityscape. Once again, the player must avoid obstacles and enemies in the forest, but they must also navigate a maze. A nuclear reactor must be destroyed before it explodes in the Nuclear Plant level. As the player advances through the level, the player must destroy the core of the space station before it explodes.
The player controls Chelnov, a Soviet Union superhero with superspeed and radiation absorption abilities. A nuclear meltdown must be prevented by Chelnov in 1986. A Sega Genesis version of the game was released, and later a Sega Master System version followed.
